Whether a person is smart can be seen from his answers.
Whether a man is wise, you can tell by his questions.
Advance notice: We'll take a little longer here. First of all, we are very happy about the question, as it suggests that you have discovered many exciting Topics that you would have liked to have gone through all at once. We can of course understand this wish. As you may have read in “About Us”, it is our concern to motivate our users to really keep some knowledge instead of “just” entertaining them lightly.
We have two basic theses:
Sometimes less is more.
We all know the following situation: You surf the net, jump from topic to topic, read a joke, an article, watch a video, come to one more thing, then to another. At the end, an hour is up and no content has stuck, because your brain has long been switched off. We believe: A manageable input, that you can not only skim over, but also reflect on and retain, is much more sustainable. In order to support this learning method, My Daily Input also provides a repetition function and individual Quiz Topics, so that you can easily test yourself or recall the Topic.
Brief facts versus depth.
We are not a professional journal and we are not authors of a scientific publication. We do not want to bombard you with detailed specialist knowledge and extensive Topics. Instead, it is our goal to offer you an introduction to numerous, very different topics, to close knowledge gaps or to inspire you to new things.
For us it means great success if you deal with Topics that are also new to you. Maybe you become curious, discover a new hobby or exciting facts that make you want more. In this case, you can expand your knowledge by subscribing to similar Topics or by continuing to deal with the Topic outside of our app, reading a book about it, researching or integrating the topic into your everyday life.
Anyone, who would like to delve into the depths or spend hours browsing various topics, will surely find what they are looking for elsewhere.
We would like our app to help you work a little on yourself every day. As simple and straightforward as possible. Bit by bit. We see ourselves as part of your team and as your supporters we feel it is our responsibility not to keep you on the phone for hours, but rather to encourage you to plunge into life instead and enjoy your offline time.
We do not yet know whether the current maximum number of Topics, that can be subscribed to, is the final one. Hopefully, we will reach a corresponding number of users that will enable us – also financially – to have this examined more scientifically. An expansion to 10 for convinced users is already possible by creating a profile.
Until then: You can look forward to the Topics that interest you and – as soon as your current Topics are over – subscribe to them next. For most Topics – depending on the number of Dailys – this should be the case in 3 - 4 weeks.
The introduction to the app with helpful pictures and explanations can be found in the app under "More" and then under "Help". There, you can consult it infinitely.
It all depends on you and the topics you choose. If you open the app every day, every Daily of the Topic will be displayed.
Topics that relate to certain dates simply have no Daily on some days and therefore do not display anything. For those topics you will miss the date-related topic, if you are not in the App that day.
Most of the Topics have regular Dailys though, which means that starting with version 2.0.0 these Dailys will wait for you. So whether you are in the app tomorrow, the day after or in a wekk, you'll see the next Daily of that topic.
You will see a maximum of one repeated Daily per Topic each day. The repetition will begin no earlier than three days after you have pressed "Repeat". True to the motto "less is more", you can memorize the content better and immediately notice whether the knowledge has really stuck in your memory. If not, just press "Repeat" again and go on – step by step.
Please first check whether the named operating system version or higher is installed on your iPhone or Android device, otherwise update it. The download should then work.
Should you still have problems, please check your Apple or Google account first and if this is not the cause, please write to us at service@mydailyinput.com.
It's true: even if you have subscribed to the same topic as someone else, it's very likely that you'll see different content today.
This is not the case if:
Most of the topics we do are just tailored to you, so you start at the beginning of the topic when you add it to your list. Whenever you are in the app on a new day, you'll see the next Daily. Tomorrow, the day after or in a week: it depends completely on you:
This ensures that you have the best possible experience and that you don't start in the middle of a topic and miss an important part.
To prevent you from always lagging behind compared to your friends, we have kept most of the topics short or have divided them up. This way, it only takes a few days until the current topic is finished and you can consciously start with the next part in parallel so that you don't have to listen to a joke that you will read yourself the day after. This also promotes communication, as you can exchange ideas on different topics. If your motivational quote isn't that exciting today, I have a very funny football quote for you today ...
So have fun comparing and reminding each other.
This probably only applies to you if you are still using an app version 1.8.4 or below.
The numbers tell you that you've seen X of possible Ys of Z in total.
For example, if you see 2/3/30, you have seen two of a possible three out of a total of 30 Dailys.
If you read this from the end, it means:
The selected Topic has a total of 30 bits of knowledge ready for you.
If you had been in the app every day since subscribing to the Topic, you would have seen a total of three Dailys so far. In other words: Today, Daily no. 3 of the Topic is shown.
Obviously, you had only opened the app for two days (one of which is today), so you have only seen two Dailys.
In this example, you can reach a maximum of 30/30/30 if you read the Dailys every day and that should, of course, be your goal.
We want to help you acquire knowledge in small steps as consistently as possible. Of course, the many small steps only work if you take them.
Seeing the knowledge is the basis and possibly the easiest part of success. Whether you really internalize the Dailys, remains your own decision. We can only encourage you to do so and support you in doing so. Hopefully, our adapted repetition function will also help you here.
Do not be surprised:
The counting of how many Dailys you have seen, however, takes place with the update to version 1.3 (from 03.09.2020 at the earliest); therefore, you will only see two numbers for all Topics that you have earlier subscribed to (e.g. 3/30). The first number is missing here, so you can see that you are currently on the fourth of 30 Dailys.
Starting from version 2.0.0 you can't miss a Daily of topics that are independent of the date. For those you simply see 2 numbers (e.g. 3 of 30 Dailys seen so far) or for completed topics only one number (All 30 Dailys seen).
If you have not yet created a profile, this can be easily done under "More". If you then log in, you can pick up your profile at any time where you left off and are device-independent.
You can now register for free under “More”, but why?
Short version:
We are happy to explain this in more detail for those interested:
So far, your device saves which Topics you have subscribed to. This also means: If you reset your cell phone or change it because you have lost it, it has been stolen from you or you simply buy a new device, all of your progress will be gone.
Only if you can identify yourself via an external medium (e-mail or another account), we can save your current status regardless of the device.
The Topics and Dailys you have chosen, seen and already done and what is in your archive is always up to date and can be continued by you at any time on your new mobile phone.
Your registration tells us that you really like our app and that you want to learn more regularly.
That is why we would like to provide you with more options. As a registered user you can subscribe to more Topics and archive more Dailys to get even more out of the app and of yourself.
What is important to us:
If you register with us by e-mail, there will be no newsletter without a separate consent. Your e-mail will therefore only be used for the initial confirmation and, if necessary, for changing the password or similar.
If you register through a third-party provider, we do not receive any additional information that is not anonymized for further use. Only the third party will then know who you are, but of course it will not know what you have subscribed to with us.
Yes, both are possible. If you have canceled a Topic, you will be asked whether you want to "Restart" or "Continue".
Choosing the latter, you will receive the last Daily that you saw on the day you had canceled, and it will continue as normal the next day.
So don't worry about cancelling off or pausing if you feel like trying a different Topic.
What:
At My Daily Input, there is an option to sign up for a Pro subscription.
As a small thank you for their support, Pro users will not be distracted by banner ads for the duration of the subscription and will have a “Review“ – feature at their disposal that will allow them to access the Dailys of the last two days they visited again. This will hopefully make daily learning even more fun and the knowledge can be internalized even more easily.
We want you to know that we are happy and grateful when people enjoy our daily free knowledge bites so much that they want to support us financially in our mission. The price for a Pro subscription varies depending on the country, but is usually the equivalent of about 1 € per month.
In Germany
On the one hand, that's a lot of money, but on the other hand, it's not even a coffee, a scoop of ice cream or a beer a month.
The subscriptions can be cancelled easily with just a few clicks up to 24 hours before the end of the subscription period.
Here as well, our motto is: as simple as possible.
Where:
To sign up for a Pro subscription, you need a profile, so that we can ensure that it is always assigned to you as the correct user, even if you replace your phone with a newer model.
If you decide to subscribe to a Pro plan, simply create a profile and then select "Learn more" in the Profile section under "More" and subscribe to the Pro plan of your choice.
ATTENTION: Unfortunately, the subscriptions are technically device-specific at the moment. IOS users have therefore taken out an IOS subscription and cannot technically transfer this to an Android device. Likewise the other way around. If your current phone is an Android model and you're thinking about getting an iPhone, it's better to take out a monthly subscription. If by chance your device change happened shortly after you signed up for an annual subscription, email us when it happens and we'll do our best to find a solution for you.
Why:
With the benefits of the Pro subscription, we would like to thank everyone who supports us financially as well. We want to make it as easy as possible for as many people as possible to learn something every day. Our mission also includes making this possible for as many people as possible free of charge. However, in order to be able to realize this in the long term, we are dependent on supporters. For them, we will also continue to come up with small extra features in the future.
Even if we didn't write any more topics and didn't develop the app further, it costs money to run it. So yes, we do have costs and yes, it is and must be our goal that they can pay for themselves in the long run, but above all that is our mission and not a possible profit.
For these reasons, the Pro-Subscription is a way for users to not just give a tip, but to really support us permanently and receive at least small benefits as a thank you. This way we can continue to pursue our most important goal: To offer new, exciting topics and thus permanently ensure that the selection of topics continues to grow and flourish in terms of quantity and quality.
It is difficult to permanently find the balance between pro & free, between much and little advertising, between imposing and discreet insertion, but above all we feel responsible for ensuring that the heart of our app is and remains free of charge. This means that you can use the app very well without a Pro subscription (and even without providing data for a profile registration) and learn something new every day. It is precisely because this is so important to us, that there is such a long explanation here. We also want to show our users how the app can remain viable, entirely without any secret ulterior motives or artificial bidding by possible external investors with other intentions.
We think it's important to be transparent from the start and not build a big company over years, only to come around the corner at some point with business models that then exploit possible routines of users. We want to show what you can expect and what we stand for. Nevertheless, we continue to develop together - also thanks to the many feedbacks of our users - and thus it remains a matter of trust and a constant mutual weighing, whether we will continue to live up to our own claim and to our and your standard. It remains an exciting journey and we’d be happy if we accompany and support each other throughout.
If you have any further questions about the Pro subscription, ideas for topics or other suggestions, for example for extra gimmicks for Pro users, we would be very happy to receive an e-mail from you at feedback@mydailyinput.com.
Besides, thank you again to all supporters for your trust and support, be it through feedback, by sharing the app and its content, by talking positively to your friends, by your tips or even a pro-subscription.
Thank you!
If you have subscribed to topics that have matching questions, you will receive a personalized, mixed 7-question Quiz every week on the Dailys you have seen or could have seen in the previous week.
Where can I find the Weekly Quiz?
If there is a Quiz on the previous week, it will always show up in your Daily Feed from Monday through Sunday until you complete it. You can also pause the quiz at any time and continue until the end of the week.
I had at least 7 Dailys last week and no Weekly Quiz, why?
Not every Daily is suitable for a Quiz and if there are not at least 7 questions, you will not get a Weekly Quiz.
Why do we have the Weekly Quiz?
We want it to be as easy as possible for you to learn something new every day. However, it is up to you to decide whether you just read your Daily tidbits of knowledge or even try to internalize them. You can display them again three days later (repeat) or archive them and thus support the long-term memory. The Weekly Quiz aims at making it even easier for you to remember what you have seen in the long run.
Statistics
For all registered users we have a few statistics for additional motivation. As a profile user, you will be shown how many Quizzes you have taken and how many of the questions you answered correctly on average.
For Pro-Subscription users, there is also an overview of the weekly trophies collected so far as well as a weekly history of their own performance as a small thank you for their support.
Every person learns differently. Our goal is not strenuous cramming, but playful learning with light knowledge tidbits, quiz topics and inspiration for in between. We hope you have fun and look forward to your feedback for further improvement.
