Philosophy - Basics

Philosophy is a complex, but also highly exciting subject area. The term “philosophy” itself comes from ancient Greek and literally means “love of wisdom”. In fact, the core of philosophy is to deal with questions about the world and humanity and to approach things and events through thought experiments.

This also includes the critical questioning of existing laws, which also influenced the development of modern natural sciences.

It was the philosopher Thales of Miletus, for example, who came to the conclusion through reflection that all living things must come from water and still consist of water. Today, we know through scientific analysis that man actually consists of 70% water. Thales of Miletus assumed this already 500 years before Christ.

This Basics-Topic is intended to give you an easy start into the wide area of philosophy by introducing you to different philosophical currents but also to well-known philosophers and their most important statements and ideas.

A philosopher is known to be a person who loves knowledge, and since we also love knowledge, we are looking forward to sharing it with you day by day.
